What's the point?

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I hold a firm belief that we all have a purpose in this life.  We lived with our Heavenly Father as spirits before we were born and we came to this earth to get bodies and have experiences that would increase our wisdom and help us become more like the Father.  The more I've pondered on this belief and what it really means, the more I've come to realize that all aspects of our life can and often do provide opportunities for spiritual growth and development.

Unfortunately I have spent much of my life missing those opportunities.  This blog aims to fix that.  My hope is that as I write I will be forced to look back over my day and recognize the experiences I had that day that could provide opportunities for me to learn to be better.  Hopefully as time goes on I will more readily see the chances as they happen instead of having to see them in my rear view mirror.  Perhaps reading this may open others to seeing those times in their own lives as well.

We are spiritual beings and our spirits long to be nurtured.  While we can definitely feed them through standard means such as reading our scriptures and praying often, I also feel that as we turn our thoughts and minds towards Jesus Christ regularly during the day we can start to recognize so many more chances to be spiritually fed.  Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are eager for us to become the best versions of ourselves and They regularly place opportunities for learning and growth before us.  It is our responsibility to take them.
